As Co-Chief of Spinal Deformity Surgery at the Och Spine Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University, Dr. Sardar regularly receives referrals from surgeons across the country for patients with severe scoliosis, kyphosis, flatback deformity, Harrington rod complications, and failed prior fusions — including patients who have been told no further surgery is possible. A second opinion with Dr. Sardar often reveals options that were not previously discussed.
Patient Safety as an Institutional Role, Not Just a Value
Dr. Sardar serves as Director of Quality & Patient Safety (QPS) and Medical Director of the Spine Unit at Och Spine Hospital. These are not honorary titles — they reflect his day-to-day responsibility for surgical safety standards across the department. He personally follows every patient through pre-operative planning, surgery, and all post-operative visits.
Advanced Technology Used as Standard, Not as an Upgrade
Every instrumented spinal procedure is performed with robotic-assisted navigation and intraoperative CT verification of implant position. Continuous intraoperative neuromonitoring is used throughout all procedures involving neural structures. These tools are standard practice in Dr. Sardar’s operating room, not optional add-ons.

Dr. Sardar is an active member of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), the North American Spine Society (NASS), AO Spine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS).
